In 2006, Molly was an 11 year old girl in sixth grade who was diagnosed with ALL. “Make Way for Molly” is a team consisting of family: siblings Caitlin and Brendan, father Ted, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles. In the past 7 years we have raised over $500,000 for Dana Farber Cancer Insitute. The team mainly consists of one day riders from Wellesley to Bourne but a few members have done the two day ride from Wellesley to Provincetown, including Molly's sister Caitlin.
Molly finished her treatment in the fall of 2008 when she was in the eighth grade. Although Molly had a rocky road through treatment and a few side effects post treatment she has done remarkably well. She is now entering her sophomore year at Georgetown University in Washington DC and majoring in nursing hoping to pursue a career in pediatric oncology.
By riding each year in the PMC our family and team members hope to aid in the research that will one day cure cancer, and also along the way help the many families like ourselves, with services and programs that will make the time spent in treatment a little less difficult. We have been very fortunate that Molly is doing so well and our wish is that every child has this outcome.
